Many people who have visited Malaysia have said that they miss Malaysian food after heading back to their respective countries, and have tried and failed to recreate Malaysian flavours.
One Polish woman, who desperately loves Cendol, decided to recreate the dish for her parents back home.
Foodie, @agaeatskl, took to her TikTok page to showcase how she recreated Cendol for her parents, using some ingredients she had brought back to Poland from Malaysia and some she found in her home country.
She wrote, “My Polish parents trying Malaysian Cendol for the first time. And, I am making it at home in Poland.”
She shared how much she missed Cendol.
“Cendol is one of the best Malaysian desserts and I already miss it when I’m back in my kampung,” she said.
So she decided to make it herself.
In her video, she explained that she couldn’t find fresh pandan so she ended up getting frozen ones and she forgot to buy gula melaka so she used palm sugar instead.
Though, luckily, she had brought cendol and coconut cream with her from Malaysia.
“So, hopefully, I will recreate the taste.”
After making the palm sugar mixture and infusing the coconut milk with pandan, she assembled all the ingredients together.
Though, the one thing that bothered us was that she used iced cubes instead of shaved ice.
While her parents were baffled that there was corn in a dessert, they ultimately found the dish interesting and tasty!
