It is true when they say that a mother’s love and sacrifice knows no bounds.
Such as the story of this one mother, who only had a motorbike as a means of transportation to send her son off to pursue his education, 50 kilometres away from home.
Taking social media by storm, the journey taken by Jumiati Masud, a street vendor who did not want to miss the chance witnessing her son attend his first day in university, is worthy of much love from the public.
Arriving at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) drenched and carrying a few things from home, Jumiati said that she is able to give Muhammad Izzulhaq Mohamed Hasnan the means to ensure that he has a conducive environment to study.
As USM afforded students the chance to either register and return home, register and leave their belongings at their hostels, or, register and stay, Jumiati shared that they chose the last option.
“Let him study here. It is better. At home, there is no internet connection as we have no wifi.”
Having been previously offered to study at a university in Kuala Lumpur, Jumiati said that they opted to go to USM as it was closer to home.
“I worry about my mother’s journey back to Simpang Empat. It is a bitter pill to swallow seeing my mother work so hard to ensure that I succeed.”
We would like to wish Muhammad Izzulhaq and many others just like him a successful journey ahead. Make them proud!
