In an effort to promote his upcoming Chinese New Year (CNY) movie, Hong Kong actor Oscar Leung randomly interviewed locals in Malaysia and asked them simple questions about family trees.
The situation, however, became awkward for Oscar after some of them had no idea who he was.

Hong Kong actor Oscar Leung interviews Malaysians in Kuala Lumpur; some had no idea who he was
While some refused to be interviewed, others could not recognise Oscar and had no idea that he was a Hong Kong actor. Oscar co-invested in the CNY film “Mama, Not Again,” which was filmed in Malaysia, and he had made several appearances in various shopping malls across the country to promote the film.
Most recently, he took the disguise of an internet celebrity and randomly interviewed passersby ina Kuala Lumpur shopping mall. After asking them questions and telling them about his upcoming CNY movie, Oscar asked the woman if she knew who he was.
“No,” she replied with a smile, leaving Oscar stunned, as seen in his Instagram video.

Another young woman, who was interviewed, said she knew who Oscar was, but couldn’t remember his name. Oscar then told her to watch his upcoming CNY film, slated for release in 2026, so that she would know who he was.
Oscar also gave them RM10 for each question that was answered correctly.
Interviewed the wrong generation?
Oscar has starred in multiple Hong Kong TV series, with his latest show, Line Walker 3, airing in 2020. Since then, the actor has been involved in some movies, including a leading role in “Mama, Not Again.”
Social media users who recognised Oscar instantly, however, thought that he had interviewed the wrong generation.

“The girl in white must be a Gen Z. Or else, she would’ve recognised Oscar.”
“I wish I had met you!”

“The younger generations barely watch Hong Kong dramas today.”
“The older generation, who watched Astro, would’ve recognised you immediately.”
To those who grew up watching Hong Kong dramas, do you recognise Oscar in the clip?
