Previously, we shared Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s announcement that the Malaysian Government will assist Palestine in building a hospital, mosque and school in Gaza.
These efforts in helping rebuild Gaza have since garnered divisive responses from the public, with some well-known figures, such as former International Trade and Industry Minister Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz questioning the move and urging the Government to prioritise resolving domestic issues first.

Well, Anwar has apparently responded to Rafidah’s statement, saying that those opposing efforts in helping to rebuild Gaza were not in line with Islamic teachings, which encouraged Muslims to extend assistance to those in need, especially fellow believers, within their means.
Taking to his official Facebook page, the Prime Minister shared his speech, which took aim at certain quarters that are not satisfied with the Government, viewing any decision he made as controversial.

In the video, Anwar was speaking at a Kenduri Rakyat before performing Friday prayers with congregants at Al-Muttaqin Mosque in Taman Meru, Ipoh yesterday, Anwar asserted,
“One group claims this is just play-play. This (aid to Gaza) involves hundreds of millions. Then, there are so-called intelligent individuals, former leaders, with one saying we have not even resolved our own school issues, yet we want to help others.
“What kind of mindset is this? In Islam, we are not taught to think like that…The suffering faced by Muslims in Gaza, Palestine, and the Arab world is not a common occurrence,”
“Until the end of time, domestic issues will never be fully resolved,”

The Prime Minister further elaborated that since World War II, the situation in Gaza has been one of the worst humanitarian catastrophes.
He added,
“Children, women, schools—everything has been destroyed. And when we try to help even a little, what is their response? They say we should solve our domestic issues first.
“Brothers and sisters, until the end of time, domestic issues will never be fully resolved; there will always be shortcomings somewhere, but we do what we can,”
