Ever since the pandemic struck 2 years ago, the world went into a full lockdown, rendering most people to work from home in an effort to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
While the virus is still here, the condition in some countries has improved vastly. In fact, we have been in the transition into endemicity since April and since then, people have slowly returned to work in the office at full capacity.
If you think your superiors are the only ones asking you to “move on” from the working from home phase, then you’re wrong.
40 hours at least, or out you go
The world’s richest man, Elon Musk is also amongst one of the employers who thinks that working from home is no longer relevant.
Just recently, Elon Musk’s e-mail to his executives in Tesla, with the subject “remote working is no longer acceptable” circulated online where he told the latter to ditch the idea of continuing working from home.
He demanded that Tesla employees work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
“And I mean minimum of 40 hours per week or depart Tesla. This is less than what we ask of factory workers.”
As if that was not clear enough, Elon reminded his fellow employees in Tesla that the office has to be the main Tesla office and not a remote branch office unrelated to the job duties.
If any of his employees were expecting an exemption from returning to the office, there’s still hope for them.
In the e-mail, Elon also stated that the exemptions will be reviewed and approved by none other than him.

Not showing up? Then you’ve resigned.
In another e-mail which was written on 31 May, Elon said that the office should be where your actual colleagues are. As the subject of the e-mail suggested, in order to make himself “super clear”, if any of his employees do not show up, then he or she will be considered as to have resigned!
“The more senior you are, the more visible must be your presence.”
At the end of the e-mail, he assured the people that Tesla will continue to produce great products of any company on Earth and that they will not do so by phoning it in.
Yes, we’re super clear of his intention and instructions now!
Do you agree with Elon Musk’s instructions towards his employees? Do you think that working from home should be continued or that it should be a thing of the past?
