Federal Territories Minister, Annuar Musa has yet to be fined RM1,000 for violating the standard operating procedures (SOP) of the Movement Control Order (MCO) as his case has to be referred to the Attorney-General’s chambers first.
Police have confirmed that they have recorded his statement regarding a viral photo that shows him sitting at a banquet table with six other individuals. The statements of the other individuals involved, including the organisers were also recorded, reported Berita Harian.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief, Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin, said his department was examining the existing facts and evidence before submitting the investigation paper to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for follow-up action.
“Police recorded Annuar’s statement for more than two hours yesterday. Other parties related to the banquet have also recorded evidence” he said.
“So, if you ask if he has been summoned RM1,000 or not, that is not yet. This is because, once the investigation paper has been opened, we have to get all the facts or evidence available. We will refer to the attorney general for further instructions.”
He added that the case is being investigated under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342).
Meanwhile, Annuar Musa also confirmed that he has cooperated with the police and given his statement.
“Alhamdulillah, from 12.30pm to 2.30pm, I gave a statement and my cooperation to PDRM who investigated that I allegedly violated the SOP. I was just relieved to be able to tell what happened, where, and the situation behind a photo,” he said in a tweet.
“LET THE PARTY CARRY OUT THE DUTIES WITHOUT INTERFERENCE.”
