Tens of thousands of jellyfish wash ashore in Kuala Penyu
Sabah News Today shared photos of the incident courtesy of its readers on its Facebook page, elaborating that the strange occurrence took place yesterday (27 March).
In the photos, countless jellyfish can be seen beached at Kampung Jangkit along almost the whole length of the beach.
Furthermore, the jellyfish were even washed ashore as far as a few metres from the sea, potentially during the high tide.
Given the large amount of jellyfish beached, the waters look eerily red near the beach, making the scene even more surreal.
Besides Sabah News Today, Daily Express Malaysia also shared about the phenomenon, including a video recorded by Justin Tianji, a local from nearby Kampung Kiara who visited the Kampung Jangkit beach.
