A Syrian student was recently spotted on TikTok giving his buddies the most important tip EVER when he shared how to effectively order Nasi Lemak from a Mak Cik at a roadside stall (in his words, a supermarket).
In his short video, he fluently shared how to say certain words, just like a Malaysian would when ordering.
“You go to pasaraya and you want to buy Nasi Lemak you don’t go – Makcik, itu berapa? (Makcik, how much is that?).”
“No, don’t do it like that. It’s not the right tone. The right tone is – Makcik berapa tuuuuu? (Makcik, how much is that?),” he explained

It is the same thing but with flair. He also adds the infamous “Why is it so expensive” phrase to show how much we always fall for a good bargain.
Sound Malaysian enough? Well, some of those in the comments section think so.
“I have been speaking Malay for the longest time. I can’t believe that’s how I sound.”
“I can’t believe that I speak with that intonation. Foreigners actually notice this,” commented another user.
