Our differences in political ideologies or preferences in political parties/coalitions could often lead to some heated situations. However, violence is never the answer.
As we were all awaiting the results of GE15 late last night, it was reported that a street brawl had occurred between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) supporters.
According to Sin Chew, the brawl which happened near the Clock Tower at Dataran Zero Kilometer Sungai Petani, Kedah commenced as each group of supporters were yelling at each other.
This eventually resulted in a full on brawl as they started to hit each other with their fists whilst some were using their coalition flags to attack one another.
Meanwhile, vehicles parked in the area were also not safe from the blows of angry political rioters who attacked everything in sight in a fit of rage.
According to the Kuala Muda district police station, they received a report about the brawl at approximately 2:15am and dispatched 3 Light Strike Force (LSF) units to the scene.
The units apparently managed to immediately subdue the crowd and managed to have the situation under control by 2:50am.
In a statement, Kuala Muda district police chief ACP Zaidy Che Hassan said that the police have opened an investigation under Section 147 of the Penal Code for undue influence and rioting, which carries a maximum jail sentence of two years, or a fine, or both, if any party is found guilty.
