Considering the fact that we’ve officially moved past the Covid-19 pandemic, we thought that all the bad habits we developed during that time would also be a thing of the past. For instance, panic buying.
We guess we were wrong about that.
The 我们是马来西亚人 We are Malaysians Facebook page shared a video from the recent TCE Baby Expo at Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur, where a crowd of people could be seen wrestling past each other to snatch up bundles of items on offer.
In the video, the group could literally be seen pushing and shoving at each other as they grabbed armfuls of the products that have allegedly been put up on offer.
One woman wrestling her way through the crowd even had a baby with her.
While many have since condemned this still-ongoing panic buying behaviour, others have pointed out a potential reason as to why the group was so adamant on grabbing the cheap items in bulk, that they may be resellers.
“It cannot be denied that humans are the greediest creatures, regardless of race and religion.”
“Most of these people have shops or online stores. They want to resell these items. Understand that life these days are difficult. So, if there are crazy cheap sales, they’ll go hard to buy in bulk to resell below the market.”
“Buying a lot to sell on Shopee.”
“Those who buy a lot are usually scalpers.”
“They’re all resellers. Do you think their own children will use that much stuff?”
