Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza is one of Malaysia’s treasured singers, and she has proven time and time again that her vocals are of top calibre.
Her songs are not easy to sing. However, an Iban woman named Winnie Albert, might just be the perfect contender to sing Siti Nurhaliza’s song “Percayalah”.
In a TikTok video originally uploaded by Dayak entertained dinozonefc, we see Winnie casually dressed in a t-shirt with her mask on her chin while holding a cigarette.
Be it as it may, when she started singing the first line, we were amazed to hear how clear and musical her voice was.
The epic performance seemed to occur at the Rumah Asap Tabuan Dayak in Kuching, Sarawak. The fantastic 4-minute cover managed to amass more than 700,000 views in just 4 days.
The video was shared on other social media platforms and landed on the songwriter, Ajai, and stand-up comedian Harith Iskander’s timeline.
Both of these icons were amazed by her voice, and Ajai said on Instagram that Winnie had a nice, accurate pitch tone and a good interpretation of the song.
“It’s very nice to hear, and she understood what “Percayalah” is all about.”
Malaysian comedian Harith Iskander said he wants to “feature her on a big show” that he said was coming up. He added that “her control, tone and raw talent are outstanding.”
According to the Borneo Post, who talked to Winnie, she said she did not expect this to happen and felt overwhelmed.
“It is overwhelming to receive such feedback from both of them (Ajai and Harith) who praised and commented on my performance.”
“However, as a Sarawakian, I am proud to have reached a point where my talent has been showcased and recognised by Malaysian artists. To Ajai, Harith and all my fans out there, I thank you.”
Winnie Albert has a few singles released throughout the years, and you can listen to them on Spotify. We hope to see her creating more music soon!
