The one thing Malaysian drivers genuinely hate is when a motorcycle goes zooming past them at a toll booth, just as the barrier goes up.
Why? Because the system will then detect that a vehicle is going by and close the boom gate before the driver can pass.
The driver will then have to make the toll payment a second time, while some toll booths don’t even allow a second payment, rendering the driver stuck.
So, would you really blame a driver for not wanting to pass through a toll booth when they see motorcycles waiting at the barrier? The 我们是马来西亚人 We are Malaysians Facebook page recently took to their profile to share a video which showcases just that.
In the video of the incident which allegedly took place at a Touch ‘n Go lane of a toll booth on the Duke Highway, shows 2 motorcyclists waiting directly at the boom gate of the toll booth.
When the driver refused to tap his Touch ‘n Go card to open the barrier, one of the motorcyclists even turned around to prompt the driver to make the toll payment by honking his horn at the driver, which the driver then retaliated by honking back.
Malaysians call for action to be taken against such motorcyclists
The video has since gone viral on social media, with people sharing their 2 cents on the incident. Many pointed out that such motorcyclists are an inconvenience to other road users, while others pointed out that, if motorcyclists want to use toll booths instead of the free motorcycle lanes, they should be made to pay.
“Want to use but don’t want to pay, stupid pigs,” commented a user.
“These kind of stupid people are the ones who inconvenience other road users!!”
Some users shared that perhaps the motorcyclists did not want to use the motorcycle lane as there could have been a PDRM roadblock (if that’s the case, then you know what that means).
