Recently, dashcam footage of a car narrowly missing a child has made its way into several social media platforms.
The clip, which is less than a minute, was taken on the morning of April 27, and according to the captions accompanying the video, this incident happened at Sitiawan, Perak.
As the video starts, we can see something moving across the road and falling before a Proton Wira swerved and went up the curb.
After that, the cars and the motorcycles on the road stopped.
When the video was played back in slow motion, we saw that two children were being chased by a dog. One of the kids decided to cross the road to run from the dog.
However, when he got to the right lane, he couldn’t slow down and ended up banging into a car and falling onto the ground.
The Proton Wira that was following close behind saw all that happened and swerved to the right and up the curb.
In the slowed-down and zoomed-in version, we can see that the car had missed the child’s head by just a few inches.
Many netizens in the comments were praising the Proton Wira driver for being so alert while others were angered by the (possibly stray) dog and had asked the authorities to take action.
“I respect the Wira driver; I believe he should be appreciated. The boy’s life was really saved because of the Wira driver’s alertness. The distance between the boy and the wheel was really in inches and cms.”
Another user commented, “I hope that local authorities will pick up the stray dogs. It’s really dangerous. In Japan, there are no stray dogs.”

Thankfully the child was unharmed, we hope the local authorities will look into this matter.
