Despite doing their best when it comes to the requests of customers, our food delivery riders often face a lot of stick by ungrateful and unsympathetic customers.
It is worth noting that just because they’re food delivery riders, doesn’t give us the right to treat them lesser than we would compared to others.
Recently, a food delivery customer was praised for showing a tremendous amount of respect towards his food delivery rider despite the inconvenience he faced.
A helping hand
In a TikTok video shared by Singaporean @kirostory, he shared his experience of when he had to collect his own food delivery order from his rider who was unable to deliver his food because his vehicle’s tyres had popped.
In the video he said, “So I actually ordered GrabFood and my Grab rider messaged me that he had popped his tyres. He told me he was going to get someone else to send the food but I said, ‘Hey, it’s fine, don’t rush. I’ll come to you instead’.”
He then hopped on his motorbike and rode towards where his GrabFood rider was located.
“For me, I don’t mind, it’s not like a big deal. Can you imagine if this rider got some f*cking crazy Karen who started running her mouth. Everyone has their days. Or things happen.”
As soon as he had met his rider, kirostory asked if he was okay to which the rider responded that he was and that he had hit a pothole with his vehicle (which caused the tyres to pop).
The rider then asked if he would be kind enough to help him send another order of his, to which kirostory agreed to.
The rider asked if he could reimburse kirostory for his troubles to which he quickly said that there was no need.
Selfish customer
After kirostory had agreed to help out his rider, he then went on to deliver the other food order to the rider’s other customer.
Despite him explaining to the customer why he was sending the food instead of the actual rider, the first thing the customer asked him was if the food was already cold or not.
“Cold already. Can make a complain right.”
Although kirostory proceeded to explain once again what had happened to the rider, the customer went on to say, “But I can complain to Grab right, because it’s been too long”.
After he had sent the customer’s order, kirostory expressed his anger and frustration over the customer’s lack of sympathy towards his rider.
“I just explained to you that your rider had a popped tyre and then you complain why it took so long. Some people out there, they just don’t care. Don’t give a sh*t about what others go through.”
“My own food also cold what, so how? Just heat it up lah,” he said as he rode back home with his own food.

Kudos to kirostory for being so understanding and sympathetic towards his rider despite the inconvenience he faced. We hope that this serves as a reminder to always respect and appreciate your food delivery riders.
