Former national squash queen, Datuk Nicol David is close to winning the World Games Greatest Athlete of All Time (GOAT) with a comfortable lead in the online voting.
Despite being the sole representative from the Asian region, the eight-time squash world champion garnered more than 240,000 votes, leading the nearest challenger with an advantage of over 100,000 votes.
Her closest challenger is James Kehoe of Ireland who represents the sport of tug of war with 97,140 votes, followed by Marcel Hassemeier of Germany with 78,686 votes and female weightlifter Larysa Soloviova of Ukraine with 68,220 votes.
Voting can be done through https://www.theworldgames.org/awards/The-World-Games-Greatest-Athlete-of-All-Time-81 which will close on Monday (Feb 1) at 2 pm Central European Time (CET) ) or at 9 pm, Malaysian time.
