Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has issued out a statement for voluntary recall on a few models produced between the year 2011 and 2015.
This recall is to fix the hydraulic pressure accumulator within the gearbox, caused by a product deviation. If not repaired, over time a leak in the pressure accumulator can occur.
“In individual cases, the failure of a component can lead to pressure loss in the hydraulic part of the gearbox, interrupting the power transmission between the engine and the gearbox.”
For Malaysia, the affected models are; Polo 6R, Scirocco, Golf Mk6, Golf Mk7, Beetle, Cross Touran, Jetta, Passat B7 and Passat CC which were produced between 2011 – 2015.
According to the Volkswagen website, identified owners will be informed by mail but owners are also encouraged to verify if their car is on the list by checking it on their website here. Alternatively, they can also call 1800-18-8947 for further information.
If your car is part of the recall then you should definitely fill up their Google form and make an appointment as there might be a waiting period. You can also make an appointment through the VW Cares mobile app and by calling your respective dealers.
All labour and replacement parts for the service will be provided free of charge.
