A visually impaired senior citizen was willing to walk 35 kilometres to get his Covid-19 vaccine.

Based on a report by Berita Harian, 78-year-old Shaikh Ramly Sheikh Ahmad from Pahang had walked alone all the way from Kampung Kertau to the Kuala Wau Health Clinic, while carrying a bag and his cane.

He had not registered for the vaccination and found out about a programme at the location from an individual who had sent food aid to his home.

“I left the house as early as 6am because I had to walk to the clinic which is located quite far from my home,”

“I really hope to get an injection as I have never registered for the vaccination because I do not have any technological facilities, along with my vision problems,” he shared.

Thankfully, he was picked up by a kind photographer who was by chance, on his way to the same location to photograph the programme.

Upon his arrival at the clinic, Shaikh Ramly was assisted by policemen to register at the counter before getting vaccinated.

The vaccination programme was implemented on the initiative of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), which provided three buses for the use of local residents to successfully expedite the National Covid-19 Immunisation Program (PICK).
