This is not a drill.
Just this evening (October 14), visitors at Mid Valley South Key in Johor Bahru were asked to evacuate the building after a bomb threat! In a video shared by @terraform69 on TikTok, the crowds were seen rushing out of the building after being informed by the management of the building. In a Facebook post, the management of the mall said that they received the bomb threat via an anonymous call.
PDRM in Johor and the fire department have been informed of the matter and they are currently investigating it.
In a recent report by Oriental Daily, PDRM confirmed the bomb threat, saying the call was made by a foreigner who warned Malaysians NOT to support Palestine or they would detonate the bomb.
Johor Bahru South Police District Chief said the management of the mall received the call today at 5:38 p.m. and authorities were there by 6:15 p.m. K9 dogs were also brought to the scene and as of 9 p.m., PDRM allowed the public to drive out of the building from the car park after making sure the premise was safe.
Today, the mall was estimated to have over 9,000 visitors with more than 5,000 vehicles. By 10:15 pm, the authorities had already left the scene after there were no more threats. As for the identity of the caller, PDRM assures the public that they’re still investigating and asked them to remain calm, and not come up with any speculation.
