It’s been a while since Malaysians have been able to enjoy a festival of any kind and most of us are pretty sad about it. We all miss the excitement of heading out with our friends to an event to enjoy live music, games, and most importantly, food!
In fact, many of you might remember the Tiger Uncage Street Food Festival which happened at Gasket Alley in 2018 where there were tons of unique Malaysian street foods and drinks for you to enjoy. And who could forget all the fun activities you could take part in while watching awesome musical performances by our talented artists and bands.
Well, we have some good news that all you avid festival-goers might love.
If you’re wondering “How can there be a food festival when we’re all stuck at home?”. Well, Tiger Beer is bringing one to you in a way you won’t expect:
A fully immersive online experience called the Tiger Street Food Virtual Festival!
We can tell you’re already excited just as we are about this so read on so we can fill you in on all the details:
1. The festival is set in an immersive 3D world which you can explore with a personalised avatar!
This is perhaps the coolest thing about the Tiger Street Food Virtual Festival. The entire event takes place in an immersive 3D world you can access right on your browser! There’s no need to download any app – just register, sign in, create and customise your foodie avatar and you’re ready to go!
After you’ve gotten your avatar looking all snazzy, you’ll be transported to the neon-lit Street Food Central hub where you’ll find other festival-goers like yourself. From here, you can interact with other people or go straight to the food!
2. There will be more than 80 food vendors to choose from
We Malaysians have always been spoiled for choice when it comes to food and Tiger continues this tradition.
There will be a total of 88 food vendors available across four weeks as you walk down the food streets of Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, even Penang!
You might not even know where to start!
Each street will feature food vendors exclusive to the area and while you might see a few familiar ones, we encourage you to try some new ones as they’ve been personally handpicked by Tiger so you know they’re gonna be serving up delicious food anyway! Here are just a few of the vendors from each street that you’ll be able to find at the festival:
KUALA LUMPUR:
- myBurgerLab
- Meng Kee Grill Fish
- Chye Seng Foo Coffee Shop
- Ticklish Ribs & ‘Wiches
SELANGOR:
- Super Kitchen Chilli Pan Mee
- Boon Signature Roast Pork
- The Porki Society
- Pho King
PENANG:
- Penang Road Famous Laksa
- Kedai Kopi Sin Hwa
- Saigon House
- Thunderbird
To order a meal, just follow these steps:
- Find a stall you’d like to order from (all you have to do is walk right up to the stall as you would at an actual food festival and click on it)
- A menu will pop up and you can immediately click on the selected food item(s) to place an order
- Confirm your order & make payment
That’s it! Now you just wait for your food to be delivered straight to your doorstep. Being a Tiger Beer festival, there will also be special set menus that come with your choice of Tiger Beer or Tiger Crystal.
As an added bonus, you’ll receive a pair of limited-edition Tiger Beer chopsticks when you order a combo meal from any of the vendors!
3. Take part in festival challenges with Harvinth Skin & Lizz Chloe to win drinks and other rewards
In Street Food Central, you’ll find YouTubers Harvinth Skin and Lizz Chloe a.k.a. Dumpling Soda hanging around to offer fun challenges to take part in while you spend time in the festival.
Harvinth Skin hosts the Tiger Crystal Mountain Climber challenge where you’ll need to test your skills against the cold, yetis, and other obstacles! At the top of the mountain, there’s a treasure of beer you could win if you come out as top three on the leader board at the end of the festival.
If you’re afraid of heights and yetis, you can join Lizz Chloe on a Tiger Beer Hunt instead. She needs your help to find bottles of Tiger beer to complete her orders while she cooks up awesome street food non-stop. Find all the bottles Lizz needs and she’ll give you a special promo code you can use with your purchase of any food at any stall, so keep those eyes peeled!
