Recent footage making the rounds online, shared via Mynewshub, shows a man slapping a staff member from the Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre (PUSPAKOM).

In a statement, Johor Bahru Selatan District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat, said they received a report about the incident from the victim himself, a 38-year-old PUSPAKOM staff member.

The customer’s truck failed the inspection

Raub also confirmed that the incident happened on November 18, 2024, at 5:40 PM at the Puspakom Vehicle Inspection Center in Taman Daya, Johor Bahru.

“On January 16, 2025, Johor Bahru Selatan IPD Police received a viral video on social media showing the incident where a PUSPAKOM Johor Bahru staff member was slapped by a customer.”

The suspect, a 59-year-old local man, slapped the victim after his lorry failed the inspection done by the victim.

“We’ll update once the investigation is complete”

The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for intentionally causing injury, which could lead to up to 1 year in prison, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both.

“The Johor Bahru South Police is focused on ensuring public safety and will share more updates once the investigation is done,” Raub added.

The public is asked not to share the video on social media to avoid misunderstandings or speculation that could affect the investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to reach out to the investigating officer, Inspector Mohd Syahriezam Bin Shamri, at 014-8028427.
