Recently, a netizen took to Twitter to share how people often times take their phones to the repair store and pay an unnecessary sum of money for them to “fix” the charging port on their phones when it doesn’t charge properly. Other phone users experience the deterioration of their phone speakers that start to sound muffling after a few years.
However, most of the time, the issue with your phone is not that it’s getting old and needs to be repaired but rather the dust trapped inside the charging port that obstructs the battery connectors and sound projection.
But this problem can actually be easily fixed by cleaning your phone’s charging port and speakers. You don’t have to burn a hole in your wallet by sending it in to get repaired, all you have to do is follow this netizen’s simple instructions.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Firstly, you’re going to need a flash light, a tweezer/pin and an unused toothbrush that’s clean.
Carefully clean the charging port with a tweezer/pin
“Okay now we start our project. Flash a hole into your charging port. Do you see all that dust? Now use the tweezer and slowly scrape out the dust. Be careful when you do this as there’s a pin connector inside the port for charging.”
“Keep scraping the dust out until you’re satisfied with the phone’s condition. You can ask someone to hold the flashlight as you hold your phone to clean it.”
Clean the speaker and microphone holes with the toothbrush
“Once you’re done with that, you can start cleaning your phone’s speakers with the toothbrush”.
“Brush the dust from the speaker hole and the mic. Most of the time, when we call people and they can’t hear us clearly, it’s because the mic holes are clogged with dust.”
