So, Christmas has arrived and everyone must have had a great time counting down the minutes to midnight on Christmas Eve at your respective celebration places. BTW, Merry Christmas from WORLD OF BUZZ!
Well, if you have been to the Bukit Bintang area for any sort of countdown events then you would know how festive it can be.
Unfortunately, these festivities come with a cost, as a video on Facebook shows. After the countdown was over and the crowds began to disperse, the ugly side of Malaysian partygoers were revealed. The short 7-second video showed the rubbish and chaotic state of the roads around the area, as various empty snow spray cans were simply dumped on the streets.
Lots of plastic bags, empty plastic bottles and rubbish off all sorts were littered everywhere as cars tried to navigate the trash-filled roads. Sadly, as a Malaysian, this kind of scene is probably a familiar sight to many as there have been too many examples of us not being very civic conscious. When will we ever learn?!
The video circulated on social media and not surprisingly, many shook their heads in disbelief. Netizens quickly pointed out that the scene could be much worse especially with New Year’s Eve coming and too many people practice the same tidak apa attitude. That isn’t good, people!
Some of them commented, “Luckily we didn’t go there, otherwise our car might get sprayed or worse, the people might throw cans at the doors and windows.”
“This is Malaysia, that’s why we are not improving!” another said.
“Imagine those poor workers who have to clean up this mess, we really need to get rid of this bad habit and be more civic minded!”one Facebook user wrote.
They are right, though! Since a whole new year is coming, it’s time to set new resolutions and one of them should be to be better Malaysians!
