While Pope Francis is currently recovering from a cold, the Vatican has released a statement confirming that the city-state has its first confirmed COVID-19 case. The positive test result was received on Thursday (5 March) which prompted the health clinic to be closed for sanitizing.
As reported by TIME, one Vatican official was quarantined after he lived in the same church with a priest from Rome who tested positive. This has also lead to the Vatican Apostolic Library to shut its doors for the whole week as a precautionary measure.
Last week it was reported that the pope came down with a cold but he did not show any other symptoms which can lead him to have COVID-19.
As the second wave of COVID-19 has started to sweep the countries throughout the world, we could only hope and pray that a cure is found soon.
