Deputy Minister of Works Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad bin Maslan has put forth seven suggestions to address the issue of rising petrol and diesel prices amid the global energy crisis triggered by the geopolitical tension in West Asia.
Taking to his Facebook page, Ahmad Maslan stated that the measures are what he could think of for the short, medium and long term.

Firstly, the Deputy Minister of Works proposed increasing the production, sale, and use of electric vehicles. These include electric cars, electric motorcycles, electric buses and others.
In addition, Ahmad Maslan, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Pontian, urged that research efforts and the building of palm oil biodiesel plants for large-scale use be intensified.
Furthermore, he called for incentives to be given to Malaysians to carpool or share their vehicles when travelling to and from the workplace.

Besides that, the UMNO veteran urged the use of public transport over private vehicles to be encouraged.
Moreover, he called for bicycles to be used for travelling short distances, dubbing it a healthy method of transport.
Next, Ahmad Maslan stated that Malaysia should find oil import and export routes that do not pass through sensitive areas or potential war zones.
Finally, the Deputy Minister of Works proposed continuous and increased trade with various countries that can benefit Malaysians.
