With the rising number of cases, multiple institutes and companies nationwide are now on high alert for Covid-19 cases.
On 4 October, Terrenganu university UniSZA issued out a statement on Facebook about a staff member who has tested positive for Covid-19. In response to that, the university has decided to close all three campuses (Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu & Besut) in Terengganu for a total of three days for deep sanitisation.
UniSZA vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Hassan Basri Awang Mat Dahan said,
“During the closure, the teaching and learning process will be carried out online to ensure the safety of students and employees. All personnel will work from home between Oct 5 and 7 to enable disinfection activities to be carried out.”
It is said that the staff who tested positive was on a flight from KL to Terengganu. In that same flight, there was a returnee from Sabah who later tested positive for Covid-19.
The Ministry of Health sprung to work and has identified staff members who would need to be quarantined for 14 days.
The vice-chancellor also said that there are currently 584 students on campus and he has reassured everyone that the students and their welfare will be taken care of.
