A couple in a Perodua Myvi was recently reported to have engaged in a high-speed chase with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in Kelantan before they were eventually arrested.
In the incident that took place in Jeli on Monday (1 December), the driver, a university student in his 20s, had just picked up his 17-year-old girlfriend from school, and their decision to get intimate in the car backfired after they noticed the presence of the police.

The couple planned to have consensual sex in the car
In an official statement by PDRM today (4 December), Superintendent Kamarulzaman Bin Harun, Jeli district Police Chief, said that the couple was headed to Lata Renyut, a recreational area in Jeli, but stopped the car at the roadside on Jalan Kampung Sungai Rual to have intercourse in the car.
The couple was shocked after they saw the presence of PDRM officers, who wanted to check the car after deeming it suspicious, and the high-speed chase ensued.
They were eventually arrested after failing to evade the police, but the girl, who is also an SPM candidate, has been released.
The man’s 4-day remand is expected to end today, and he was previously detained under Section 186 and Section 279 of the Penal Code for obstructing a civil servant from carrying out duties and reckless driving, respectively.

However, he will be remanded again under Section 14(a) Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
In his statement, Kamarulzaman also warned the public not to behave inappropriately and get intimate in the car, whether in public or quiet places.
