Elderly people who live in old age care facilities often spend the remaining of their days feeling lonely and dispirited.
Hence, this is why philanthropist, Uncle Kentang, has decided to try and turn some of those frowns upside down.

Malaysian philanthropist Uncle Kentang brings elderly care centre residents on a fun beach outing
Taking to his Facebook page, he shared how he and his team had taken a group of residents from an elderly care centre to a beach, where they could enjoy the breeze and live like they were still young.
He wrote, “No one will understand our stress. Being confined to an old folks’ home is never a luxury. After working for years, when reaching old age, one is sent to an old folks’ home. And they suffer and endure the long wait time for death.”
“So, Saturday was their cheat day. I told them to smoke and eat freely. I offered beer, but no one took it. Some of them are palliative and at the end of their lives. I let them let their hair down.”

On top of taking the elderly folks to enjoy the ocean breeze, he also provided them with food and red packets!
“It was so much fun, there was laughter, and many told me, ‘It’s been a long time since I saw the ocean. A long time since I’ve seen the sea’, I am so happy to pay for their food amounting to RM1,300. I have some ang pows and things came to a total budget of RM3,000 with 8 vehicles and a bus,” he added.
Looking for sponsors for more trips!

Uncle Kentang then took the opportunity to urge the wealthy community to sponsor more trips like this.
“If you are a big boss and you want to make others happy, especially last-stage cancer patients, and you have RM3,000 to sponsor such a trip, call us. You can park it under your company’s CSR. We are more than willing to help,”
“Such a trip is worthwhile to make their lives filled with happiness.”
