Two secondary school students from SMK Pendamaran Jaya in Klang have tested positive for Covid-19. Selangor Health Director Datuk Dr Sha’ari Ngadiman has confirmed the two positive cases.

For illustration purposes only.

He also said that he has already informed the Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah about the news.

The Selangor education director Izmi Ismail has confirmed that the two students have been quarantined. The state Health Department Officers have also visited the school at noon.

Several WhatsApp messages were circulated earlier today regarding the two cases in the school. One of the messages instructed teachers to come in early to sanitize their classrooms, according to the Star.

The other message said that since there were no orders from the state education department on the need to vacate the school, parents who were concerned with the safety of their children did not have to send them to school.

Teachers were also given instructions to not allow students from entering shared premises like the computer and science labs in order to limit movement.

It is still unknown regarding how the two students were infected by Covid-19. However, it is reported that there are a number of Sabahan children attending the school.

The public is advised to stay calm and keep practising the recommended SOPs. Remember to always wear a facemask, avoid crowded areas, and always wash your hands.
