The Ministry of Transport (MOT) is giving e-hailing vehicles greater flexibility in renewing their motor vehicle license (LKM), commonly known as road tax.

Starting today (30 January), the MADANI Government, through MOT and the Road Transport Department (JPJ), is rolling out the new flexible road tax renewal option.

More flexible options for renewing road tax for e-hailing vehicles

In its statement, MOT said e-hailing vehicle owners can now renew their LKM for a period ranging between 1 and 12 months.

The ministry also noted that the total fee for renewals of 1 to 5 months will not exceed the 6-month rate.

“Renewals are subject to the validity of the Electronic Vehicle Permit (eVP), Motor Vehicle Inspection Centre inspection, and insurance coverage,” the statement clarified.

MOT added that this move not only makes things more convenient for e-hailing operators but also helps ensure regulations are followed smoothly and efficiently.

“We are committed to improving public welfare by streamlining the LKM fee structure for e-hailing vehicles. This initiative reflects the spirit of Malaysia MADANI, which focuses on efficiency and well-being for everyone.”
