Traffic flow in several locations in Kuala Lumpur is expected to be disrupted in conjunction with the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (58th AMM) and related meetings, which will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from July 8 (Tuesday) to July 11 (Friday).
According to a report by BERNAMA, the ASEAN Logistics Main Secretariat from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the traffic disruptions are expected to begin as early as this Friday (July 4), within a radius of 1km from KLCC as well as along main roads and highways connecting the main entrances to the capital.

“Further information on affected routes and specific road closures will be communicated by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) soon. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs apologises for any inconvenience caused and greatly appreciates the public’s understanding and cooperation,” they added.
As the host of the prestigious regional event, the secretariat stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is committed to ensuring a smooth and successful gathering, while also prioritising the well-being of the people.
The ASEAN Chairmanship
On January 1, 2025, Malaysia took over the ASEAN Chairmanship from Laos, with the theme of Inclusion and Sustainability, which reflects the country’s aspiration to build a united and prosperous ASEAN region.
This is Malaysia’s 5th time as ASEAN Chairman after holding the position in 1977, 1997, 2005 and 2015.
