Sometimes we find fashion labels coming out with questionable designs that cause us to scratch our heads in confusion. And recently Topshop’s latest jeans design has got everyone raising their eyebrows.
That’s because they recently released the Moto Clear Plastic Straight Leg Jeans.
And it is exactly what the name suggests, a pair of jeans made out of clear plastic and it costs US$100 (RM432). Yes, it’s real!
This new jeans design comes after their Clear Knee Mom Jeans priced at US$95 (RM411), which is a pair of jeans that are at least made out of denim but with an added see through panel at the knees. Why, Topshop? Just why?
Based on the description on Topshop’s website it asks customers to “think outside the box” and also gives suggestions on how to make a fashion statement while donning the jeans.
“Think outside the box with these out-of-the-ordinary clear plastic jeans – guaranteed to get people talking. In a straight leg cut, they feature classic pockets detailing and are cropped at the ankle bone.
“Ideal as a statement piece for a festival or costume party, take the look to the extreme with a bikini and sequin jacket or dress down, layered under an oversized jumper or asymmetric hem dress. 100% Polyurethane. WIPE CLEAN ONLY.”
The Moto Clear Plastic Straight Leg Jeans leaves us with so many questions. For one, plastic is non breathable material so what happens when you sweat? Just imagine seeing beads of sweating running down your legs or sticking to the plastic. Eww! Plus, is it easy to pull on and pull off?
Also, probably the most important question is, what exactly does one wear under it?
As you can see, this pair of jeans is clearly meant to put your underwear on display so we guess now is the time to bust out those underwear that you’ve always felt were too pretty to keep hidden under your clothes.
Unfortunately, the last time we checked, the item has already been marked as sold out in their US store so you have to wait to get your hands on them. Yes, these leg condoms are actually sold out!
Can’t seem to keep up with all these new fashion trends nowadays!
