Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has revealed in a post on his official Facebook page that only 396 teachers in the state refused to receive the Covid-19 vaccine because they were sceptical about the vaccine. Tunku Ismail said a total of 383 teachers took the stand to postpone the vaccination because they have allergies, pregnancy or health conditions that do not allow it. He wrote in his post,
“I hope the teachers realise their responsibilities in always prioritising the development of model citizens by setting good examples and hope they would take the vaccine before schools reopen to ensure the rakyat’s health and well-being.”
Because of the meeting, a group of teachers have agreed to register to take the vaccine. As reported by BERNAMA, on Sunday (22 August), Tunku Ismail ordered the Johor State Director of Education and a total of 779 teachers in the state who reportedly refused to receive the Covid-19 vaccine to appear before him. The request was made after the Chairman of the State Education, Information, Heritage and Culture Committee, Mazlan Bujang, told the Johor State Assembly (DUN) on August 22 that there were teachers who refused to give the vaccine.

We strongly hope that these teachers will change their minds and get themselves protected with the vaccine. They are the frontliners who will be interacting with the younger generation. So, it is very important that they are fully vaccinated.
