There has always been a debate online about the importance of learning English, with one side pushing for its necessity while the other remains adamant that it’s insignificant in a Malay-language speaking country.
This could very well prove why it is important to at least learn English, even if you don’t speak it on a daily basis.
The ISU SEMASA VIRAL Twitter page recently shared a TikTok made by a woman who insisted that a brand of spices sold in Malaysian grocery stores and supermarkets contain pork. This, however, is NOT TRUE as the brand’s label actually reads ‘USE ON: Beef, Chicken, Lamb, Pork, Fish, Seafood, Potatoes’.
ISU SEMASA VIRAL wrote, “I swear her confidence is to the level of the Gods.”
In the TikTok, the user showcased multiple different spices from the brand including their Cajun Seasoning, Season All Seasoned Salt, Steak Spice Seasoning and more.
She shared that only the spices with the orange labels ‘contain pork’ whereas the ones with the green labels such as the herbs ‘do not contain pork’.
Let’s just clarify one more time that this is NOT THE CASE, as the products are informing you as to HOW you can use their spices, such as to marinate all these different kinds of meat.
Netizens have since condemned the TikToker for not reading the label properly and spreading assumptions.
“If that’s the case, has anyone told her that ‘Pork Free’ means no pork and not buy one free pork items? I’m worried.”
“What is this? Pork is listed under ‘Use On’. Not even in the list of ingredients. Why la. This is why it’s important to read.”
“Logically, when reading it, don’t tell me she didn’t wonder how there can be beef, chicken, fish and pork all inside that?”
“That’s why English education is important. This is what happens when you’re lazy to read.”
