Completing one’s academic journey is no small feat, especially considering how arduous and taxing that period of time in our lives may be. But one group of friends went all out to celebrate the achievement of one of their own in pure style.
In a TikTok clip posted by Malaysian user Nur Afifa to her account @notfaerr, Afifa caught the instance where a group threw together a joyful celebration for a few of their friends after their graduation ceremony.
Taking place at Universiti Malaya (UM) Kuala Lumpur, Afifa captured a moment where Urumi Melam players were drumming away outside one of the graduation halls. Not long after does the video shift to the group flinging a few of their friends in the air, celebrating their monumental accomplishment.
Each friend slung in the air donned their graduation attire, while wearing their robe and cap as well. One of them even had a garland of flowers around him, too.
Cheering for each of them, the group’s happiness and joy when celebrating their own was described as absolutely infectious.
“I don’t know them, but their efforts in celebrating their friend’s or relative’s convocation was lit! Congratulations to everyone!” wrote Afifa in the caption on her video.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Afifa stated that while she did not know the group personally, the exuberant display took place just moments after the official graduation ceremony concluded on Tuesday, 28 November.
Warming hearts across the comments section, many people were eclipsed to see how supportive the group was for one of their friends.
“This is how everyone should celebrate their graduation! Makes all the effort of studying worth it!” wrote one user.
Additionally, another user jokingly mentioned how she would be disappointed if her friends don’t bring a kompang instrument when her graduation ceremony rolls around.
Others even recalled their own graduation ceremonies, reminding themselves of how supportive their own families were when they finished their tertiary education course.
However, a portion of commenters also spoke on the unconditional support they have seen from the Malaysian-Indian community, noting that they uplift their own in times like this.
“I love to see Indians families if I’m being honest. Even their grandmothers will come along. I love it so much!” penned another user.
