He had to save his species, so he just had to libido-it.
Diego is a playboy tortoise who resides in the San Diego Zoo. He was just normal tortoise but he had one talent, a strong libido. That’s why he was selected for a very important mission, to be part of a breeding program to save his species in the Galapagos Islands.
When his mission started, there were only two males and 12 females of his species alive there but after his mission ended, Diego managed to help boost the population to more than 2,000. According to CNN, Diego, who is 100 years old, contributed to at least 40% of the increase. The Galapagos National Park director, Jorge Carrion explained,
“He’s contributed a large percentage to the lineage that we are returning to Espanola.”
Carrion also mentioned that a total of 15 tortoises was chosen for the efforts to increase the population but Diego’s contribution is by far the biggest. We are glad that Diego’s efforts have managed to restore the population of his own species on the island and he deserves a rest after he goes back home to San Diego Zoo. Thank you Diego!
