If you travel the world, then you’d be amazed at the various Malaysian products you can find in random corners of the globe.
Well, for a country that has produced its own cars since 1985, it’s no surprise to find either a Proton or Perodua vehicle outside of Malaysia and that’s definitely the case for this old Perodua Kelisa.
As shared by many netizens in Newcastle, England across the years, this rundown Kelisa has got quite the online following thanks to its quirky modification and funny plate registration number.
Most recently, the Kelisa, with the plate number ‘Y90 P00’ was featured in a Reddit post on the r/CarTalkUK subreddit with many commenters loving the owner’s sense of humour.
Not only does the plate number spells out ‘poo’, but the car also has a ‘shitty’ matching colour thanks to all the rust and paint job.
The post’s top comment said that they always bump into the car at Newcastle and every time, it will put a smile on their face.
Meanwhile, another commenter said that the rundown Kelisa is the most hilarious car they’ve seen in a long time and would like to meet its owner.
Well, as it turns out, the owner actually frequents the subreddit and left a comment after being mentioned by a fellow Redditor.
The owner, who has the Reddit username /u/BenLikesTea thanked the subreddit for the mention and revealed the modifications he has made to the Kelisa, asserting,
“Glad everyone likes the poo car. Feel free to ask anything. I threw a K3VE2 in it last summer, about 120bhp, nothing too big but quite punchy for its very low kerb weight. It’s around 700-800kg.”
“It’s all pink under the bonnet and it’s quite loud, so I’m sorry if anyone local to Leazes Park has heard me rocking up at 6am. Used to be slammed to the ground but failed its MOT for loose springs, so currently sat like a monster truck til I sort some coil overs to be imported. If anyone sees me, I love talking about it and will show you it all if you catch me one day.”
The Kelisa, or ‘poo car’ as the owner likes to call it was also previously featured in the r/Shiity_Car_Mods subreddit, presumably prior to its most recent modifications by the owner as it looked different.
In the comments section of the Reddit post, many commenters love the owner for ’embracing the shittiness’, with the top comment saying, ‘That’s a style’. Meanwhile, another commenter joked that they have never seen a ‘Perodua Ratrod’ before.
u/BenLikesTea also left a comment on the post, saying that he can’t believe that he came across his own car on the subreddit.
Moreover, he also mentioned that the Kelisa has been swapped with a K3 engine and that most of the money was spent on performance and paint stripper.
It is uncertain whether the owner is a Malaysian living in Newcastle or just a random person living in the United Kingdom who loves the Kelisa.
