This KL Music Event Will Feature The Hottest Taiwanese & M’sian Acts! Here’s What We Know!

The bummer reality that we’ll never get to witness some of the world’s most popular artists on stage can be tough to accept. Fortunately, we’re still blessed enough to witness many other music acts rock their (and our) hearts out at vibrant concerts and music festivals, from America all the way to Taiwan.

Speaking of Taiwan, one of the largest university music concerts in Malaysia is actually returning for its fourth edition, and we think it’s tooooootally worth checking it out!

ERA Music Fiesta 2023 by Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) kicks off on 29 April, 5.30PM, and they’re bringing the hottest Taiwanese music acts to Kuala Lumpur!

With “Evolution of Music” as this year’s theme, ERA Music Fiesta 2023 will be paying tribute to the end of this music era, and welcome the rise of a new one with wide open arms~

Rock out with some of the most talented Chinese artists

What’s a concert without good music, right? Fortunately, you can expect an auditory buffet at ERA Music Fiesta 2023, with some of the best Chinese musicians across varying genres gracing the stage!

Here’s a quick look at who’ll be performing:

a) Bestards (理想混蛋)

What started out as a humble campus band in 2017, has since evolved into one of the most popular groups in the Taiwanese music realm. One of their first singles, 不是因為天氣晴朗才愛你 (“I love you not because the weather is sunny”), garnered over 13 million views and was regularly played during marriage proposals!

This marks the first time that the wildly popular Taipei-based band will be performing in Malaysia. With the release of two studio albums and sold-out tours in Taiwan, Bestards is an act you definitely want to check out!

b) Ivy Lee (艾薇)

Born in KL, Ivy Lee moved to Taiwan to study TV broadcasting before deciding to chase her lifelong dream as a singer in 2019. She competed in over 300 singing competitions – most notably the popular reality show, Jungle Voice 2 (声林之王2) – and won more than half of them, eventually releasing her debut album I in 2021. A little bird told us she MIGHT be performing her hit song 失重前的幸福 (“Happiness before the weightlessness”), so be sure not to miss her performance!

c) The Leng Sisters

Bring your dancing shoes, because Malaysia’s number one hype sisters, DJ Leng Yein and Leng Sean, will be bringing the dance floor! With Leng Yein as one of the top 10 female DJs in Asia and Leng Sean’s title of Malaysia’s First Hyper Girl, the powerhouse synergy between the two is more than enough to get everyone partying the night away~

d) Ribbon Ooi (黄若熙)

Multi-talented and multi-lingual, this Penang-born singer/actor first made her professional debut in Namewee’s 2013 feature film, Kara King. However, she quickly shot to stardom as “The Seven Language Voice” (“七语女声”), a nickname she earned for singing SEVEN different languages in her songs.

e) Juztin Lan (刘界辉)

On top of his status as a lifestyle and fashion influencer (over 90,000 followers on Instagram!), Juztin has also done well for himself as an actor and one of the few Malaysian Cantopop singers. Aside from starring in local films like Huat the Fish and Love from Kampung, the Ipoh-born industry veteran also owns his very own entertainment company, Just Good Entertainment.

f) Joshua Fung (洪晨峰)

A runner-up of the 8TV hit reality show “Love at First Song” in 2021, Joshua went viral on RED for covering an impressively wide array of song genres that astounded everyone. He’s well-loved for his beautiful song covers, so be sure to bring some tissues for his performance! ?
