Lieer a.k.a 烈儿宝贝 who has about 2.5 million fans on Taobao just sold a whopping 80,000 bottles of our Malaysian bird’s nest. What’s crazier is that she managed to do it in 5 minutes! That’s real influence power right there!

During a Taobao livestream, she was promoting Malaysian products as part of a Malaysia Week 2019 campaign in Shanghai, China, as reported by The Star.

According to our International Trade and Industry Minister, the Malaysia Week 2019 campaign included more than 800 products from our own country. This includes, instant coffee, local snacks, and durian-based food. The campaign aims to highlight Malaysian products to not just the consumers in China, but also the world.

There were a few other Chinese influencers who did very well promoting Malaysian products:

  • About 30,000 units of wafer biscuits
  • 20,000 units of Durian pie

Cherie 雪梨

  • Sold RM2.9 million worth of bird’s nests in 10 minutes!

Chairman and CEO of Ant Financial (board member and partner of Alibaba Group) Eric Jing said that this initiative is great to further increase the relationship between Malaysia and China – which will be very beneficial in the long run.

“We hope in the coming years, more local brands and products will be brought into the China market to cater to the growing demand of quality Malaysian products among Chinese consumers,” Ng reportedly said.

It’s crazy to see how big the market in China is. Being able to sell tens of thousands of products in a few minutes? Now, this is mind-blowing.
