YouTube cooking channels are amazing. They introduce you to new dishes, teaches you new recipes to try, and in the case of “Grandpa Kitchen”, feed hundreds of orphans!
Meet Narayana Reddy, a 73-year-old man from India who is also the brains behind the “Grandpa Kitchen” YouTube channel. With over 4 million active subscribers, every one of his videos garners millions of views. That’s pretty great for a cooking channel that’s only been around since August 2017.
Except this is not your typical cooking channel.
Narayana, known as “grandpa” by his millions of fans, walks us through the steps as he cooks meals while preparing some absolutely humongous servings. I mean, check out the serving size of his dishes below!
These huge servings are then used to feed hundreds of needy children. Bless your kind soul, grandpa!
He has made a wide variety of foods too, from gigantic pots of delicious fish curry to a jaw-dropping full goat biryani utilising several whole goats.
He has even made special treats like mac & cheese and American-style lasagna.
All of his videos start with the slogan “Loving. Caring. Sharing. This is my family” and end with clips of the orphans enjoying the freshly prepared dishes.
There are no Michelin stars or any professional kitchen set-up here, just an elderly man and a few helpers cooking outdoors over brick fires. But the meals that Narayana cooks are so full of love, it’s food for the soul as much as it’s for the body.
And if that’s not enough, cooking delicious meals for disadvantaged children isn’t all that he does. His Patreon page reveals that the proceeds from his monetised videos are used to provide basic necessities for orphanages. Clothes, school supplies, books, and even birthday presents are donated to make the children’s lives happier.
Their mission is written there as well.
“We operate a YouTube channel called “Grandpa Kitchen”. We entertain people by cooking food and donate the proceeds to charities. Our goal is to provide basic necessities like food, clothing, school supplies and birthday gifts to the orphans. Thank you for your support.”
Any of our readers who wish to support his mission can check out his Patreon here or visit his YouTube channel to see more of his drool-worthy masterworks. Since his videos are monetised, you’re already contributing to a great cause just by subscribing and watching his videos!
What an incredible story! People like Narayana certainly prove that one person’s kindness can really make a difference. Who are some kind samaritans you guys know? Let us know about them in the comments!
