Just yesterday (22 November), Facebook user and physician, Gar Ooi, shared an outraged public service announcement (PSA) after being robbed of her phone, wallet and friend’s laptop from her clinic located in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
In her post, she writes: “How dare a person just pretend to be a patient and stole away my phone, my wallet and my friend’s laptop! This b*stard just came to our rest area and stole it all! You will definitely get your karma and the all the bad things u cant imagine will always happen to you. Is you yourself the greediness who started all these. Shame on you!” expressing her frustration on social media.
“You have no idea how hurtful my heart is when all the photos and memory of the phone is gone. Last iPhone detection at pudu plaza,” she continued in her post.
She also included CCTV images of the perpetrator and his getaway car in the post, calling him out for his crime.
Speaking with WORLD OF BUZZ, Gar Ooi further explained how exactly this event took place. “My assistant was alone at the counter when this guy came in and asked if he could see the physician,” she told us. “So, [my assistant] let him register with his fake name and fake IC fake phone number.”
The thief then proceeded to use the clinic’s washroom, only to return to the front counter, claiming that their “toilet hose [was] spoiled and leaking”. But the moment her assistant had left the counter to check on the leaking hose, the thief took all their belongings from the table, including their door remote to let himself out, and left in a car with an unknown lady.
The kicker? There was no hose problem at all– the guy had turned on the hose and pipe on purpose to cause a distraction.
“We definitely learned a lesson,” she continued, heartbroken. “Where we used our hearts to treat our patients, but he did this to us. We just hope he will get caught by the police one day and return back all our things.”
A police report has since been lodged, as shown in her original Facebook post where she included a photo of the police report. She finished our interview with a word of advice to all those that are reading this: “Especially those dental clinics and clinics where they accept cash only, better stay alert.”
Hopefully, justice will run its course and the thief will be apprehended in due time. We also remind everyone to never leave valuable belongings unattended, especially in public spaces no matter where you are.
