The anti-immigrant protests in the United Kingdom were triggered by misinformation by the far-right
As reported by CNA, the riots started when 3 girls died and 10 other people were injured on 29 July, among whom 5 children and 2 adults are in critical condition, after a stabbing attack in Southport by 17-year-old suspect Axel Rudakubana from Cardiff, Wales.
However, according to Al-Jazeera, the far-right in the United Kingdom hijacked the attack and turned it into anti-immigration protests by spreading misinformation that the suspect was a Muslim immigrant.
The riots have since spread throughout the United Kingdom, with clashes between the police and several rallies causing damages and injuries.
We truly hope that all Malaysians in the United Kingdom remain safe from the ongoing protests!
