Well as the saying goes, modern problems require modern solutions and LG’s latest wearable offering has got to be the most 2020 thing ever!
If you’re tired of the regular old 3-ply face mask and wanted something a little bit more high-tech, then LG got just the thing for you. The South Korean company unveiled via a press statement last Thursday (27 August) a revolutionary product called ‘PURICARE™ WEARABLE AIR PURIFIER’ which would make the mundane single-use face mask obsolete.
Here it is in all its glory:
Dubbed the ‘future of healthy respiration’ and unveiled at Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA) Berlin 2020, this is an evolution of the long list of LG’s clean air solution products. The PuriCare™ Wearable Air Purifier seeks to resolve:
- The dilemma of homemade masks being of inconsistent quality.
- Disposal masks being in short supply.
The mask would be utilizing two H13 HEPA filters which is a filter similar to the one used in LG’s home air purifier products. Wah, a portable purifier that you can wear!
In fact, the PuriCare Wearable is claimed to be able to supply fresh, clean air indoor as well as outdoors. Here are some of its features:
- Dual Fans and patented Respiratory Sensor that takes in clean, filtered air.
- Respiratory Sensor that detects the cycle and volume of the wearer’s breath and adjusts the dual three-speed fans accordingly.
- The fans will automatically speed up to assist air intake and slow down to reduce resistance when exhaling to make breathing effortless.
LG also claims that the mask is ergonomically designed through extensive facial shape analysis. It will fit snugly to your face and minimizes air leakage around the nose and chin.
It will come with a case that is equipped with UV-LED lights that kills germs and also charges the face mask. The mask itself is powered by a 820mAh battery which could last you 8 hours in low mode and 2 hours in high mode.
No word from LG of whether it’ll be available in Malaysia or its price but the PuriCare Wearable would start selling in selected markets worldwide, possibly as early as September.
Do note however that LG never mention anything about this mask being a deterrent against Covid-19 but the press release only focuses on its ability to provide clean air.
What do you guys think of this product that looks straight out of some science-fiction B-movie? Would you buy one if it’s avaialbe in our country? Share your thoughts with us in the comments!
