It’s no secret that Ministers and politicians often venture to foreign countries for diplomatic visits.
But, one thing Malaysians have noticed is that these politicians often behave differently when they’re overseas. For instance, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz recently took the train while on a trip in Germany. Though, would you see him taking the train here in Malaysia?
Taking to his Twitter account, the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (Miti) shared how his flight to Hamburg, Germany, was cancelled due to a riot in Berlin, which led to him deciding to take the train to his destination.
He wrote, “Due to a strike, flight from Berlin were cancelled. When the flight was cancelled, the plan for the Investment and Trade Mission was up in chaos. What is plan B? We took the train.”
“Alhamdulillah, even though it took longer, the journey to Hamburg was smooth.”
In the posting, Tengku Zafrul could be seen at the train station and on board the train to Hamburg.
Many found it odd that he seemed to enjoy his train ride in Germany yet never uses the train or other public transportation in Malaysia.
“Oh, so you can apply this (practice) in Malaysia after this. Use public transport. There’s no need to use escorts on the road.”
“Oh, so while in foreign countries you can ride the train and walk. In Malaysia, you want police escorts and more.”
“When are you going to start regularly taking (public transportation) in Malaysia? KTM also wants to proudly carry Tengku Zafrul and his company. But you insist on having Tesla here.”
One netizen even pointed out that Tengku Zafrul could have taken the train in the first place, rather than booking a flight to Hamburg from Berlin.
