Taxpayers with low or no internet connection, here’s an opportunity you can utilise to file your taxes!
According to The Star, taxpayers without an internet connection (or even low connection) can file their taxes via the e-Filing service counters at any Inland Revenue Board (IRB) branches from Friday (27 April 2018) to Sunday (29 April 2018). You only have three days, guys!
Besides that, the IRB tax payment counter at the payment centres will also be open during the weekend to help taxpayers sort their income tax return forms. These counters will be available at IRB branches in;
- Kuala Lumpur
- Kota Kinabalu
- Kuching
These are the operating hours depending on which branch you’re visiting:
- Peninsular Malaysia: 9am to 5pm
- Sabah and Sarawak: 8am to 4pm
Other than that, the statement that was released today (24 April 2018) also announced the deadline for the submissions of BE, M or B forms for the assessment year 2017, which are;
- 15 May 2018 for taxpayers without a business income (Forms BE or M)
- 15 July 2018 for taxpayers with a business income (Forms B or M)
However, these extended deadlines only apply to internet submissions. Hence, manual submissions have different deadlines, which are as follows;
- 30 April 2018 for taxpayers without a business income
- 30 June 2018 for taxpayers with a business income
Don’t forget to submit the required forms before these deadlines!
Advising fellow taxpayers to be watchful of the deadline, an excerpt from the statement reads;
“IRB calls on taxpayers to use the available facilities and ensure that their tax return forms are submitted before the deadline to prevent the late penalties.”
Moreover, the statement also added that as of today (24 April 2018) by 9am, the IRB has collected a total of 1.7499 million tax return forms from individual taxpayers via e-Filing. This has contributed to an increase of 5.52 per cent from last year, 2017.
With that said, if you haven’t done your e-Filing because of unavoidable reasons, you can do so this weekend. If you haven’t submitted the B, BE, and M forms, do remember to submit them before the fixed deadlines!
Mark your calendars and have fun sorting out your taxes, guys!
