We’re less than 24 hours away from the Chinese New Year (CNY), and by now, many of us are ready to celebrate the festive season with snacks and beverages already stocked up.
Taiwanese singer, Ella, a member of the girl group S.H.E who is married to a Malaysian has recently returned here for the CNY celebration. To kickstart the festive season, Ella excitedly feasted on a local favourite, also known as the king of fruits – durians.
“Coming back to Malaysia means feasting on the durians. Cut your own durians!” Ella said in a Facebook post last night (January 20).
Ella also shared a video of her cracking open the king of fruits, and she cut it like an absolute pro!
“That’s so Malaysian”
Many impressed Malaysians have praised her in the comment sections not only for easily cracking the durian open but also for how the scene illustrates a typical day in Malaysia.
“Newspaper on the floor, only Malaysians will do that.”
“You really have the Malaysian accent! Happy Chinese New Year!”
“You’re such a pro. A grown-up like me still relies on others to crack open the durian for me.”
“A typical scene in Malaysia during CNY – hampers.”
“Her Malaysian accent!”
“You’re so brave, Ella. You don’t even need to hold the durian with a cloth.”
“That’s pro! I’m a Malaysian who loves durian but I don’t know how to crack it open.”
“Ella is the prettiest daughter-in-law in Malaysia. So real, so cute!”
“Sitting in that pose to crack the durian open, Ella is adapting the Malaysian style and accent!”

We gotta admit that despite being Malaysians who are in love with the king of fruits, many of us are still clueless when it comes to cracking the fruit open. Do you think Ella does that like a pro?
