Former chairman of youth political party MUDA, Syed Saddiq, and Malaysian actress Bella Astillah held an engagement ceremony yesterday (March 28), shortly after announcing their engagement on social media.
Syed Saddiq’s brother, Syed Abdullah, better known as Space Dollah, recently revealed that Bella Astillah was the first person to hear his brother say the words “I love you”.
In a post shared on Instagram, Abdullah reflected on his long-standing relationship with the politician, noting that in his 33 years of knowing Syed Saddiq, he had never once heard him express those words to anyone before.
“The moment I knew he had truly fallen in love was when I heard him say ‘I love you’ to Bella,” he shared.
“Factually, in all 33 years I’ve known him, I’ve never heard him say those words to anyone,” he added, highlighting how significant the moment was to him as a brother.
Confirmation of Syed Saddiq’s feelings towards her
Abdullah’s statement quickly drew attention online, with many interpreting it as a heartfelt confirmation of the depth of Syed Saddiq’s feelings for Bella Astillah. His remarks offered a rare personal glimpse into the private side of the public figure, who is often seen as composed and focused on his political responsibilities.
Beyond sharing the touching anecdote, Abdullah also expressed his sincere hopes for the couple’s future. He offered a brief but meaningful prayer, wishing for their relationship to flourish and lead to lasting happiness.
“I pray for only the best for both of you,” he said.
The ceremony, held at around 3 PM, was attended by approximately 150 guests comprising close family members and friends from both sides. During the event, Syed Saddiq presented five trays of engagement gifts, which were reciprocated with seven trays from Bella as a symbol of their union.
However, what drew the most attention was one of his gifts: two National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN) accounts specially set up for Bella’s children, reflecting both his affection and sense of responsibility.
In addition, he also presented other financial gifts, including the opening of a Tabung Haji account for Bella, along with a ring as a symbol of their engagement.
Meanwhile, Bella’s side responded with several trays of gifts, including a set of perfumes, cat food, and a variety of other thoughtful items as a gesture of appreciation.
