Ed Sheeran performed at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil last night (February 24) and to those who were there, how did you find the show?
Malaysian preacher, Ustaz Ahmad Dusuki was not at the scene but he was against the idea of organising such a concert, especially with Palestinians still suffering from ongoing war and with the Malaysian currency dropping to an all-time low.
“Why is no one stopping this immorality?”
My “concerts” were banned but not this
In his FB post yesterday, which was a few hours before Ed Sheeran’s show, Ustaz Dusuki highlighted that his “concerts” (talks) in the past had been cancelled multiple times but he was baffled to know that entertainment concerts are rarely banned.
“I’ve been preaching for a good 24 years and I’ve had my ‘concerts’ cancelled a lot of times. Some were even cancelled last minute.”
He was not happy that Ed Sheeran’s concert was held on the night of Nisfu Sya’ban, the night of forgiveness and fortune for Muslim friends.
“You guys allowed this concert to go on when our brothers and sisters are drowning in blood in Palestine. Congratulations!”
Without mentioning any names, Ustaz Dusuki also lamented about the leaders in Malaysia who allowed the show to go on and gave space for “immoral activities.”
“Is this the kind of leaders that will lead us to the Heaven? I don’t know how else should I convey the message.”
With our Malaysian Ringgit at its all-time low and with the Palestinians still finding a safe shelter from the war, do you think we should put the entertainment show to rest, or do we find moderation in what we do?
