The Malaysian Anti Corruption Committee suddenly announced today that they will be launching an official portal in the Mandarin language. In an official statement, the move aims to meet the needs of the Chinese community to obtain information on anti-corruption and matters related to the commission.

“MACC hopes that with this latest facility, it can further increase the confidence and knowledge of the Chinese community towards the MACC and the anti-corruption agenda.”

The launch was officiated by MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention), Datuk Seri Shamshun Baharin Mohd Jamil at the Putrajaya MACC Headquarters, here today. You can visit the portal here.

Netizens on Twitter expressed their displeasure towards this move and chimed in with their comments and unfortunately, some of the comments were racially insensitive.

“Don’t need to entertain these Chinese people. This is Malaysia. Supposedly, all Malaysians are supposed to be fluent in the Malay language. If you’re not, just go back to China.”

Sprm2

“Do the majority of Malaysians speak Mandarin?”

Sprm3

“Fail, you’re not even honouring the national language. You’ve been staying in Malaysia all these years and you’re not even good in Malay, just leave, that will be better.”

What do you think of this move by the SPRM? Let us know in the comments section!
