A 9-year-old boy has finally received his Malaysian citizenship and MyKID after being abandoned by his Malaysian father and Vietnamese mother.
Philanthropist Kuan Chee Heng, affectionately known as Uncle Kentang, took to his Facebook page to share the heart-warming news that the boy received his identification card following his legal adoption by his nanny.

Uncle Kentang shared, “To me, I am blessed. At the age of 64, an old apek (elderly man), I am glad that we gave him a life. Thanks to the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) and YB Saifuddin Nasution (KDN Minister) for approving his MyKid and granting him Malaysian citizenship.”
He explained the boy’s background, noting: “The boy’s father is Malaysian, and his biological mother is Vietnamese. She has since returned to Vietnam, and the father, who couldn’t be bothered, left him with his nanny. The nanny applied for legal adoption and processed his Malaysian identity.”
The importance of a happy childhood

The philanthropist went on to share how the boy’s adoptive mother is now focused on providing him with the best upbringing possible.
“The adoptive mother will arrange his passport so he can travel overseas for holidays. This will truly bring him happiness. Children as young as him must be given opportunities to play and socialise happily. He will grow up to be a handsome and happy young man,” Uncle Kentang added.
Uncle Kentang concluded his post by urging stateless individuals in need of assistance to contact his team at 016-2057077 (Mr Liew Yew Fook).
