An argument over whether an 8-year-old boy was too old to use the women’s toilet escalated into a physical fight between two women in Singapore.
According to Shin Min Daily News, the incident happened in July after the mother took her son to the building for basketball lessons. She then asked her son to use the woman’s toilet on the third floor.
Two women were in the toilet when the boy entered, and after the women left, the mother overheard one of the women saying that the boy was too old to be using the women’s toilet and that he should have used the men’s toilet at the other end.
The 4 of them took the same lift down to the ground floor when the mother “loudly exclaimed” that there was no issue with her son using the women’s toilet.
After she commented about the lady’s appearance, a quarrel commenced, and at one point, the mother swung her hand towards the woman, and her facemask was broken.
The 2 continued their back-and-forth physical attacks toward each other until they finally separated as the lift arrived at the ground floor. However, the mother had driven around the building and found the 2 women crossing a zebra crossing. Upon spotting them, she drove against the traffic to accelerate her car toward the two before leaving to confront them again.
She stopped right before hitting them and alighted to confront Tan again.
In a medical report dated July 20, 2022, the woman was noted to have bruises on her right cheek, a contusion near her lips, and abrasions on both sides of her neck.
The mother pleaded guilty to a charge of using criminal force and a charge of a rash act endangering the personal safety of others.
The prosecution submitted a $3,000 fine for the other woman, as even though no one was severely injured, she was the one who started the fight.
